6. PHISHING

One common type of scam is Phishing attacks which are scams that attract, entice, and lure you to clickbait on their link/s. Usually, legitimate-looking communication sends a link to the phishing site can be done through FB/IG/Twitter chats, email, or SMS that plan to misrepresent the organization and exploit the users by requiring you to input credentials and account information, thus capturing sensitive information needed to access your account.

Provided are the most common phishing techniques used to steal information and/ or gain access to your devices.

6.1. Invoice phishing

Imposters will communicate with you telling you that you have an outstanding invoice from Pathways Community and Healing Center and will provide you a link to access and pay your invoice. When you access the site, attackers will be able to steal your personal information and funds.

As of the moment, Xendit Philippines is our official and only payment gateway.  You might receive an email directly from Xendit <notifications@xendit.co> reminding you to complete your enrollment. Any other emails can be qualified as a scam.

6.2. Payment/ delivery scam

Imposters will ask you to provide a credit/ debit card and other personal information so that your payment information can be updated with Pathways Community and Healing Center. The update is requested so that you can enroll for a workshop or book a healing session or register for an event but you are not aware of any enrollment or booking or registration you have recently processed.

Please note that Pathways Community and Healing Center do not store any credit/ debit card information associated with any website users, you will only be asked to provide payment details during your actual enrollment and booking through Xendit Payment platform.

6.3. Downloads

Imposters will send a deceitful email requesting you to open or download a document, such as a PDF. The document contains a message asking you to sign in to another website (not the Pathways official website) in order for you to retrieve and open the document. When you access the phishing site using your sign-in credentials, imposters now have access to your information and can gain additional personal information about you. Be careful when downloading any document.
